Hyderabad, Oct 20 (NationPress) Telangana’s Endowment and Forest Minister Konda Surekha engaged in discussions with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday, just days after a police raid targeting her dismissed OSD sparked controversy within the ruling Congress party.
In an effort to ease the rising tensions following the police's quest for OSD N. Sumanth—who was accused of extortion—Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud accompanied Surekha and her husband Konda Murali to the Chief Minister’s residence, extending Diwali wishes.
The AICC has taken a serious stance regarding the incident that unfolded at Surekha’s home in Hyderabad on the night of October 15, where a police team arrived to apprehend Sumanth. His tenure as the minister’s OSD was terminated after accusations surfaced that he threatened the management of a cement factory with a firearm for extortion.
Surekha’s daughter, Sushmita, confronted the police officers, refusing entry until they presented an arrest warrant, leading to a heated exchange.
Allegations state that while Sumanth was present in the house, he allegedly left in a vehicle with the minister.
Sushmita expressed her belief that Sumanth was being targeted to undermine her parents. She made serious claims against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, his advisor Vem Narender Reddy, and Revenue Minister P. Srinivas Reddy, alleging discrimination based on their backward caste status.
There are claims that Sumanth threatened an official for extortion, reportedly occurring in the constituency of Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy in Huzurnagar.
However, Sushmitha noted that when they spoke with Chief Minister’s advisor, Vem Narender Reddy, he indicated that a complaint had been lodged by Uttam Kumar Reddy, which the minister denied.
She voiced concerns that those orchestrating the conspiracy might coerce Sumanth into falsely stating that he threatened the cement firm employee at her parents' behest.
Surekha also claimed that there are deliberate attempts to create obstacles for her.
Embarrassed by the unfolding drama, AICC intervened, instructing both Minister Surekha and her daughter to refrain from addressing the media.
