Chennai, Jan 5 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu division of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to raise the Pongal cash gift from Rs 3,000 to Rs 8,000, to be given alongside the customary Pongal gift hamper.
The request was put forth by BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad, who accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) of systematically denying citizens their rightful Pongal benefits over the past four years.
In his statement, Prasad contended that the DMK government was trying to deceive the underprivileged by offering a “meager” Rs 3,000 cash aid just before elections, while withholding dues from previous years.
