Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 10 (NationPress) Actress Tanishaa Mukerji took a sentimental journey on Tuesday, sharing a nostalgic archival photo of her late aunt, the iconic actress Nutan, alongside Jaya Bachchan.
On her social media platform, Tanishaa posted a vintage image that appears to have been captured during an award show from the golden age of Hindi cinema.
The photograph features the esteemed Nutan walking beside another cinematic legend, Jaya Bachchan, likely at a red-carpet event during an awards night.
In the backdrop, musicians and attendees can be spotted. Nutan radiates elegance in a fitted blue gown complemented by exquisite jewellery and heels, while Jaya Bachchan looks sophisticated in a floral saree, complete with a bindi and understated accessories.
In her post, Tanishaa expressed, “Wow, Nutan moushi was so stunning.” For those unfamiliar, the term “moushi” means maternal aunt in Marathi.
Tanishaa, who comes from one of Bollywood's illustrious film legacies, proudly identifies as half Maharashtrian.
She is the daughter of veteran actress Tanuja, Nutan’s younger sister. Both Nutan and Tanuja are daughters of the late actress Shobhna Samarth, proudly belonging to the Marathi lineage.
Tanishaa is also the younger sibling of actress Kajol and the sister-in-law of actor Ajay Devgn.
Nutan is remembered as one of the most celebrated actresses in Hindi cinema, delivering countless memorable performances in films like “Seema,” “Bandini,” “Sujata,” “Anari,” “Milan,” “Saraswatichandra,” among many others.
Moreover, Nutan was the mother of actor Mohnish Bahl, making actress Pranutan Bahl her granddaughter. Mohnish is also the maternal cousin of Kajol and Tanishaa.
Sadly, Nutan passed away in 1991 after a courageous battle with cancer.
