Mumbai, Jan 15 (NationPress) BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde criticized former Union Minister and NCP(SP) president Sharad Pawar on Wednesday, asserting that the nation knows that during his leadership, Mumbai was under the control of criminals like Dawood Ibrahim, whose associates allegedly flew in Pawar's helicopter.

In a video posted on social media platform X, Tawde remarked (in Hindi), "The comments made by Sharad Pawar regarding Amit Shah are profoundly inappropriate. The nation is aware that during your era, Mumbai was governed by figures such as Dawood, and his affiliates were seen using your helicopter. The Supreme Court has exonerated Amit Shah in the case you are discussing, yet your remarks suggest a complete lack of faith in the judiciary!"

Tawde further commented, "The removal of a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and Islamic terrorist like Sohrabuddin in an encounter is a demonstration of patriotism, unlike a Chief Minister who allows Dawood's associates to travel in his helicopter. Amit Shah'sMr. Pawar has forgotten that shielding Dawood's henchmen is not in line with the legacy of Maharashtra, which is rooted in the values of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar."

Tawde continued, "If Swatantryaveer Savarkar, who faced two life sentences, had served as a minister, would Pawar Saheb have made similar statements? Would the same be said about the esteemed Atal Ji, Advani Ji, and other notable leaders who spent 17 months in jail during the Emergency, only to later become ministers and Prime Ministers? Pawar Saheb must address this with the people of Maharashtra."

Pawar had previously stated, "The respect due to the Home Minister's position must be upheld. Throughout history, many legendary leaders have occupied this role, but none faced deportation from their own state. These leaders significantly contributed to the country during their time as home minister." This was a response to Amit Shah, who remarked, "Sharad Pawar rebelled in 1978, and the people of Maharashtra have taught him a lesson about betrayal in politics, which he practiced then. The recent Assembly elections have put an end to the politics of deceit and dynastic rule associated with Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray."

Additionally, Ashish Shah, the Mumbai BJP chief and Information Technology Minister, stated that Sharad Pawar is the "father of betrayal," reiterating his disdain for truth by making unfounded claims against the Union Home Minister. He condemned Pawar's history of political treachery and opportunism.

"Pawar saheb, the people of Maharashtra have rejected you due to your deceitful political maneuvers. The courts have cleared Amit Shah's name through proper judicial channels. If you choose to ignore this fact and continue to criticize him despite the court's verdicts, don't force us to remind the public of the various allegations, including Lavasa, that have been directed towards you," added Shelar.
