Mumbai, Jan 14 (NationPress) NCP-SP president and former Union Minister Sharad Pawar criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, indicating that the effective communication among political leaders that once thrived has now diminished.
“The prestige of the Home Minister's office must be upheld,” mentioned the veteran politician.
His comments surfaced shortly after HM Shah remarked at a party gathering in Shirdi that, “Sharad Pawar had revolted in 1978. The residents of Maharashtra have taught him a lesson for his politics of treachery back then. The recent state Assembly elections have buried the politics of betrayal and the dynastic politics of Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray deep into the ground.”
In response to HM Shah’s critique, Sharad Pawar asserted, “Numerous esteemed leaders, who once held the home ministry, have passed away, yet none were expelled from their own state. These were influential leaders who significantly contributed to the nation during their tenure.”
“Leaders like Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Yashwantrao Chavan, and Shankarrao Chavan were home ministers. Our neighboring state is Gujarat, which has produced many capable administrators,” Pawar elaborated.
“The Home Minister delivered a speech in Shirdi. It is his prerogative. Amit Shah spoke about my political actions in 1978.
“I was the chief minister back then. I don’t recall where he was at that time. During my tenure, I had people like Uttamrao Patil from Jan Sangh in my cabinet, alongside Hashu Advani,” Pawar reflected.
“The Progressive Democratic Front government of 1978 made noteworthy contributions to Maharashtra. During my time as Chief Minister, Uttamrao Patil served as Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, while Hashu Advani was the Urban Development Minister. They were capable leaders who worked alongside me in my cabinet,” he recounted.
Pawar also acknowledged the contributions of Vasantrao Bhagwat and Pramod Mahajan, who cooperated despite their RSS affiliations.
Expressing concern over the current lack of communication among political leaders, Pawar remarked, “In the past, there was a fruitful dialogue between political leaders, but that is no longer the case.”
“One can mention names like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Lal Krishna Advani. Following the Bhuj earthquake, a meeting of Chief Ministers was convened to discuss emergency responses to earthquakes, heavy rains, and other crises. At that time, Atal Bihari Vajpayee had suggested that they should seek my advice on emergency measures. He had even recognized me as a minister when I was in the Opposition and entrusted me with that responsibility,” he said.
Regarding the INDIA bloc, Sharad Pawar clarified that the coalition pertains only to the Lok Sabha elections and mentioned there had been no talks about forming alliances for local or civic body elections.
“However, for the forthcoming local and civic body elections in Maharashtra, there is a consensus that the Maha Vikas Aghadi should contest together. Therefore, I will organize a meeting with all allies in the next eight to ten days to deliberate on this matter and move forward,” he stated.
On the Delhi Assembly elections, where AAP and Congress are competing against one another, Pawar noted that while AAP has a solid base in Delhi, an alliance with Congress would have been advantageous.
