Bhopal, Sep 5 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel on Friday called on educators to take initiative in guiding families and society, emphasizing the necessity of a proactive stance in facing modern social issues.
During a gathering held to commemorate Teachers' Day in Bhopal, Patel voiced his alarm regarding the increasing incidence of student suicides in contemporary society. He advocated for a united effort between teachers and parents to foster a sense of respect for life among students.
Emphasizing the significance of the National Education Policy (NEP) launched by the government, the Governor asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redefined the role of teachers in constructing a progressive India.
He also pointed out the Prime Minister's youth-focused initiatives, such as discussions on Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, aimed at motivating the nation’s youth.
"The Guru-Shishya tradition has always been a cherished part of India’s rich culture. Inspired by the teachings of Lord Ram and Krishna, educators must instill values and discipline in their students," Patel remarked.
On the occasion of Teachers' Day, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the event's special guest, revealed that 1.5 lakh teachers in the state, including assistant, senior, newly classified primary, and secondary teachers, will benefit from the fourth time-scale pay plan.
He announced that the proposal will soon be submitted to the Cabinet.
"Qualified teachers will start receiving this benefit from the financial year 2025-26, which will entail an additional financial burden of approximately Rs. 117 crore on the state budget," Yadav explained.
The Chief Minister also disclosed that Rs 330 crore has been allocated for school uniforms for 55 lakh students.
He shared that Sandipani Schools are being established in the state and noted that government schools have consistently outperformed private schools over the past 15 years.
"Education is the key to cultivating cultured and value-oriented individuals. He acknowledged the roles of Guru Vishwamitra in shaping Lord Ram and Guru Sandipani in guiding Lord Krishna as the author of the Gita," Yadav remarked.
Meanwhile, Governor Patel and CM Yadav also paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, recognizing him as a distinguished philosopher and scholar who adorned the role of the President with his intellect.
