New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) - In a tragic incident late Friday night, a 17-year-old boy lost his life and another individual was injured following a stabbing during a wedding procession clash in the Rani Bagh locality of northwest Delhi, according to police reports released on Saturday.

The confrontation erupted at around 11:15 PM when a dispute between two groups of youths escalated into violence.

As recounted by a friend of the victim, an initial scuffle broke out among several boys, and the deceased may have intervened. Unfortunately, one individual reportedly misinterpreted his actions and attacked him with a knife. It remains uncertain if the victim had actively participated in the fight.

The deceased, identified as Nikhil Yadav, 17 and a half years old, had been attending the wedding with friends. During the incident, he suffered multiple stab wounds, leaving him critically injured. Another individual, named Sunny, also received injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

According to Nikhil's family and friends, he went to the wedding with his companions when the argument unraveled among a group of boys. When he attempted to mediate, several individuals allegedly assaulted both him and Sunny with knives, with Sunny sustaining stab wounds below the waist.

A friend revealed that they learned of Nikhil's passing through a phone call from an unknown source.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, senior police officials, including the District DCP, Additional DCP, ACP, and SHO, promptly arrived at the scene. A crime team conducted an investigation, gathering CCTV footage while detaining several youths for questioning to identify the attackers.

The injured were swiftly transported to a hospital, where Nikhil unfortunately succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Both Nikhil and Sunny were residents of the Naharpur area in Rohini. Preliminary information suggests that Nikhil worked as a motor mechanic.

The body has been secured for a post-mortem examination, and a case has been filed. Multiple teams from the Delhi Police, including personnel from the Rani Bagh Police Station and the district's Special Staff, have been mobilized to locate and apprehend the suspects.

Initial investigations indicate that the clash was rooted in a dispute over the choice of songs played by the DJ during the wedding.

Given the severity of the case, police detained seven individuals, including some minors, within hours of the incident. Ongoing investigations aim to clarify the sequence of events and identify all individuals involved.
