Hyderabad, March 16 (NationPress) The Telangana state Assembly is set to unveil the 2026-27 Budget on March 20. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who also holds the position of Finance Minister, will present the budget to the Assembly, while Legislative Affairs Minister D. Sridhar Babu will address the Legislative Council on the same day.

Budget discussions are scheduled from March 23 to March 26. This timeline was established during a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), presided over by Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.

The budget session commenced on Monday with an address from Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to the joint session of both houses.

On March 17 and 18, discussions will take place regarding the motion of thanks to the Governor for his address.

A holiday will be observed on March 19 for Ugadi. There will be no sessions on March 21 and 22 due to Eid and Sunday, respectively.

The Congress-led government aims to extend the budget session until March 31. Other political parties have proposed that legislative proceedings continue on Sundays as well.

They recommend that both houses operate every day except for Ugadi, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Rama Navami.

Attending the BAC meeting were Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Legislative Affairs Minister Sridhar Babu, and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.

The main opposition, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), was represented by Deputy Leader T. Harish Rao and MLA KP Vivekanand Goud.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) floor leader A. Maheshwar Reddy also participated in the meeting.

MLA Kausar Mohiuddin from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and CPI MLA K. Sambasiva Rao were present as well.

BJP leader Maheshwar Reddy urged that the government extend the session to at least 30 days, alleging that the current schedule is an attempt to avoid discussions on pressing people’s issues.
