Hyderabad, Sep 26 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, conducted a review on Friday regarding the severe rainfall impacting various districts.

In a meeting with the Chief Secretary and other officials, he assessed the situation and instructed them to stay vigilant due to the ongoing heavy rains across the state, along with predictions for additional rainfall.

As per the Chief Minister’s Office, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of low-lying areas.

He urged officials from all departments to remain alert, pinpoint regions that might be at risk of flooding, and implement precautionary measures.

The CM also requested that authorities in Hyderabad take proactive measures to prevent traffic disruptions.

He instructed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) to remain on standby. Additionally, he directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are prepared for action.

The recent heavy rainfall in Vikarabad and Sangareddy districts has led to flooding in low-lying areas and disrupted traffic.

A significant traffic jam occurred on the Hyderabad-Mumbai highway due to relentless rains in the Patancheru area of Sangareddy, leaving vehicles stranded for several kilometers on both sides of the highway. Waterlogging was also reported in Rudraram within Isnapur.

Authorities have alerted residents near the Singpur project due to substantial flood inflows. The project is currently experiencing water inflow of 85,000 cusecs, while 90,000 cusecs are being released downstream.

Heavy downpours have severed road connectivity to several villages in Vikarabad district.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across certain districts of Telangana on Friday, attributed to a deep depression forming in the Bay of Bengal.

A red alert has been issued for Kamareddy and Medak districts, which previously faced severe flooding earlier this month.

Furthermore, an orange alert has been announced for Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Hanamukonda, Warangal, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool districts.
