Hyderabad, Oct 30 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday instructed officials to ramp up relief operations in Warangal and other regions of the state impacted by flooding due to heavy rainfall linked to Cyclone Montha.
CM Revanth Reddy ordered the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) to deploy as many boats as needed and to mobilize the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to various inundated districts without delay.
He also urged officials to ensure the utilization of the Hyderabad Disaster Response Force and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) personnel along with flood relief equipment wherever required.
Through a video conference, the Chief Minister reviewed the prevailing situation and directed concerned authorities to evacuate residents from flooded areas to safer locations. He emphasized the need to deliver drinking water and food packets to families stranded on rooftops via drones.
CM Revanth Reddy announced plans to conduct an aerial survey of Warangal and Husnabad on Friday, having postponed his visit to Warangal due to adverse weather conditions.
He instructed ministers overseeing cyclone-affected districts to be present on the ground, engage with the community, and offer assistance.
“The government is prepared to support the people. We are formulating all necessary plans for this,” he mentioned.
The Chief Minister noted that the Meteorological Department had issued warnings indicating that the cyclone would impact 16 districts, and preventive measures had been implemented.
He expressed concern for farmers, as the unexpected disaster has occurred during the paddy harvesting season.
Officials were advised to stay vigilant, and collectors were instructed to cancel all leaves and head to the field.
The Chief Minister requested the electricity department to remain alert to prevent power interruptions caused by strong winds.
Traffic should be redirected around damaged roads, bridges, and low-level causeways, and the public should be cautioned against unnecessary travel.
Officials were directed to monitor the situation continuously and provide emergency medical services as needed.
Ministers from the combined districts must keep collectors informed in coordination with officials, while district collectors were tasked with updating in-charge ministers regularly.
In light of overflowing streams, local residents should be alerted to avert accidents. The inflow and outflow in irrigation projects need to be monitored consistently. “We must remain vigilant at all times to prevent loss of life, livestock, and crops,” the Chief Minister concluded.
