Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 10 (NationPress) Former Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, accompanied by his family and the family of his son's fiancée, Saaniya Chandhok, visited Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday to personally invite President Droupadi Murmu to the upcoming wedding of Arjun Tendulkar, set to take place in early March.
“Last February, Hon’ble President Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji graciously hosted us at Rashtrapati Bhavan. We cherished those memories when we invited her to Arjun and Saaniya’s wedding. Thank you for your warm wishes, Hon’ble President,” Sachin shared on X, along with a snapshot from their visit.
Sachin also had the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, capturing moments with these notable leaders.
Arjun, son of the iconic former cricketer, is set to tie the knot with Saaniya, who is not only a successful entrepreneur but also a trained veterinary technician. Their wedding festivities will commence on March 3, culminating in a private ceremony on March 5. This intimate celebration is expected to involve only close family and friends, as confirmed by sources to IANS last month.
The couple's engagement occurred last August in a similarly discreet ceremony attended by only close relatives and friends. Saaniya is the granddaughter of Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai, adding an esteemed lineage to the union.
Arjun is forging a promising career in cricket. As a fast bowler and capable lower-order batsman, he made headlines with a century on his Ranji Trophy debut for Goa in 2022. His talent was further acknowledged in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he initially joined the Mumbai Indians in 2021.
Despite missing the 2021 IPL season due to an injury, the Mumbai Indians retained him for 2022 at a price of Rs. 30 lakh. He made his IPL debut in 2023 against the Kolkata Knight Riders, where he took his first wicket, dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He concluded that season with two additional wickets and was retained for the 2024 IPL season.
Leading into the 2026 season, Arjun was traded to the Lucknow Super Giants.
