New Delhi, Feb 10 (NationPress) Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, along with his family and the family of his son’s fiancée Saaniya Chandhok, had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday. During this meeting, they personally extended an invitation to the Prime Minister for the wedding of Arjun Tendulkar.
Sachin shared this memorable moment on social media, stating that the family felt truly honored to invite the Prime Minister and expressed gratitude for his blessings and wise counsel for the young couple. The meeting took place ahead of the wedding festivities, which are set to occur in Mumbai.
“We were honored to invite Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji to Arjun and Saaniya’s wedding. Thank you, Modi ji, for your blessings and thoughtful advice for the young couple,” Sachin wrote on Instagram, along with photos of the family with the Prime Minister, as well as a picture of Arjun and Saaniya.
Arjun, son of the legendary cricketer, is about to wed Saaniya Chandhok, who is not only an entrepreneur but also a qualified veterinary technician. According to sources, the wedding celebrations are slated to kick off on March 3, with the actual marriage ceremony being a close-knit affair attended by family and friends on March 5.
The couple had previously gotten engaged in a private ceremony last August, attended by only a select group of relatives and friends. Saaniya is the granddaughter of renowned Mumbai businessman Ravi Ghai.
Arjun, a talented fast bowler and lower-order batter, is actively participating in the domestic cricket scene as well as in the Indian Premier League. He made his debut in the Ranji Trophy for Goa in 2022, where he made a significant impact by scoring a century in his first-class debut. In the IPL, he was initially acquired by the Mumbai Indians in 2021 for his base price of Rs. 20 lakh, although an injury sidelined him that season.
The Mumbai Indians secured him again at the IPL 2022 auction for Rs. 30 lakh. Arjun made his IPL debut in 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders and achieved his first wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad, dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar in a winning match. He collected two more wickets that season and was retained by the Mumbai Indians for the 2024 season.
As the 2026 season approaches, he has been traded to the Lucknow Super Giants.
