A statement issued by the Queensland Police Service (QPS) indicated that the vehicles were approaching each other on a highway when they collided close to the quaint town of Epsom, located approximately 790 km northwest of Brisbane, around 10:10 p.m. on Tuesday night.

Following the crash, one of the vehicles erupted in flames, resulting in the male driver, who was the sole occupant, dying at the scene. Additionally, the 44-year-old female driver of the second vehicle and a 12-year-old girl passenger were also killed, according to police reports.
A 13-year-old girl, also a passenger in the same vehicle, was initially taken to Kingaroy Hospital in serious but stable condition before being airlifted to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane.
The highway was closed by police as investigations at the scene are ongoing, and they have urged anyone with information about the crash to step forward.
