Kolkata, Jan 23 (NationPress) The highly anticipated organizational restructuring within the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal is expected to occur in the initial two weeks of February, with party leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee having the ultimate authority.

Insiders from the party revealed that the well-known festival of Saraswati Puja is scheduled for the first week of February, after which the Chief Minister will provide her final endorsement for the proposed organizational changes.

“During recent internal meetings, the Chief Minister emphasized her role as the decisive voice in all internal party matters and organizational strategies for the next decade, which includes the upcoming reshuffle,” stated a cabinet member who wished to remain anonymous.

Political analysts believe that the Chief Minister’s unmistakable assertion of her continued authority in party organizational affairs is intended to resolve the ongoing discussions within the Trinamool Congress involving the “established leaders” and “new entrants”.

Trinamool Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha member Abhishek Banerjee has already put forth his recommendations regarding the organizational reshuffle to the Chief Minister, and by February, it will be apparent which suggestions are accepted or declined.

According to party sources, in addition to internal organizational changes, the General Secretary has advised a shift in leadership at the municipal level, particularly in urban areas where the BJP outperformed the Trinamool Congress in last year’s Lok Sabha elections.

Insiders noted that based on this rationale, changes at the executive level in at least 69 municipalities across the state may need to be enacted, given that in those urban centers, the BJP secured more votes than the Trinamool Congress in the parliamentary elections. However, the implementation of Abhishek Banerjee's suggestions will ultimately hinge on the Chief Minister’s final decision.
