Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday, 23 July said that realising the vision of a developed Tripura hinges on building modern cities and villages alongside a robust expansion of digital governance — ensuring faster, more transparent and citizen-friendly delivery of public services across the state.

Key Developments at AMC Inauguration

Saha was speaking at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala after inaugurating a series of people-centric projects under the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC). He announced that digital civic services, currently being strengthened in all municipal areas, would be expanded to every municipality in the state. The government's stated primary objective, he said, is the welfare and holistic development of Tripura's residents.

What the Chief Minister Said

'We need goodwill and dedication to carry out development works. It is because of the commitment and positive intent of the present government that new projects are being implemented across every part of the state, including Agartala city. Government employees, officials and public representatives must work together to ensure that every project under the Agartala Smart City Mission and other state initiatives is implemented in a transparent, accountable and time-bound manner,' Saha said.

He also drew a direct link to the Centre's development philosophy, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasised progress through dedicated performance. 'The state government also wants to move forward on the same path through sincere and result-oriented work,' he added.

Agartala's Urban Transformation

Saha highlighted that Agartala is steadily emerging as one of the more promising modern cities in the northeastern region. The government, he said, is simultaneously working to preserve the city's cultural and historical heritage while transforming it into a well-planned, citizen-friendly urban centre. He stressed that the true measure of any development project is whether ordinary citizens themselves feel their daily lives have become more comfortable and convenient.

Call for Community Participation

The Chief Minister appealed to citizens, clubs, voluntary organisations and social groups to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability in Agartala. He urged all sections of society to collectively work toward making the city clean, healthy, environmentally sustainable and drug-free. Saha also cautioned stakeholders against complacency, calling for continued collective effort to ensure projects are executed efficiently, transparently and aesthetically.

With the Agartala Smart City Mission as a centrepiece, the state's urban development push is expected to accelerate in the coming months, with digital governance serving as the connective tissue across all municipal services.
