Agartala, Dec 30 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, stated on Tuesday that the BJP government is dedicated to gaining the trust and confidence of the populace across various regions through ongoing development initiatives. The emphasis is on clean drinking water and enhanced civic services as part of the Agartala Smart City project.

During a foundation stone-laying ceremony for five significant projects at the premises of Netaji Adarsha Shiksha Mandir in Agartala, Saha remarked that the state government is committed to serving all areas of the state by implementing multiple schemes that aim to resolve everyday issues faced by citizens.

“Our government is rolling out several well-planned initiatives to ensure that essential services such as food, clothing, housing, drinking water, and electricity reach every household,” the Chief Minister emphasized.

On the same day, Saha laid the foundation stones for a 5.50 MLD capacity water treatment plant at Netaji Adarsh Palli, a 1,000-kilolitre overhead drinking water tank at Banividyapeeth School, the drilling of five deep tubewells, provision of drinking water connections for 1,000 families in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area, and a 12 km expansion of new drinking water pipelines.

Highlighting the critical need for uninterrupted access to safe drinking water, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is striving to provide clean drinking water in every village and hilly area under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Similar initiatives are being undertaken to supply piped drinking water to every household within the AMC area.

Saha informed that the projects inaugurated on Tuesday, facilitated by the Tripura Jal Board, will involve an expenditure of Rs 22.55 crore. He acknowledged the temporary inconveniences residents may experience during these development efforts but assured them that these initiatives will lead to improved civic services shortly.

The Chief Minister also stated that the state government, in collaboration with the AMC, is working to transform Agartala into a contemporary city via planned development. To date, 65 major projects valued at Rs 580 crore have been executed under the Agartala Smart City scheme to enhance the city’s cleanliness, beauty, and user-friendliness.

Saha further mentioned that approximately 85% of households have already received drinking water connections under the ‘Nal Se Jal’ program, with an objective to achieve complete coverage.

In addition to urban development, efforts are also being made to restore historical sites from the princely era and revitalize heritage locations throughout the state.

Officials present at the event included AMC Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Chairman of the AMC Central Zone Ratna Dutta, AMC Commissioner D.K. Chakma, Urban Development Department Secretary Abhishek Singh, and AMC CEO Mihir Kanti Gop.
