Agartala, June 26 (NationPress) Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Thursday that his administration has prioritized education, health, communication, and the comprehensive development of tribal communities under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While inaugurating and laying the foundation for various developmental initiatives in Sepahijala district, the Chief Minister revealed that seven new projects have been launched in the Bishalgarh sub-division, along with the foundation stone for five additional projects.
He emphasized that the Prime Minister has stated that development must precede discussions.
“PM Modi has underscored the significance of holistic development. Our double-engine government is committed to this cause. From January to June 2025, I have inaugurated and laid the groundwork for projects exceeding Rs 638.65 crore in various locations. The journey of development is limitless,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister noted that beyond developmental initiatives, there is a strong focus on the self-sufficiency of Tripura.
Prior to the BJP government taking charge in 2018, the state had only about four to four and a half thousand self-help groups (SHGs). Currently, there are around 56,000 SHGs, with the government providing over Rs 700 crore in revolving funds, along with additional funding from banks.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, he stated that 33% of positions have been reserved for women.
“All fees have been waived for female students in general degree colleges across the state. Pink toilets have been established at various locations. Additionally, women have been granted 50% reservation in the allocation of government stalls.” Saha, who also oversees the home portfolio, mentioned that to ensure the safety of women, women-operated police stations have been established in all eight districts.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government's focus on the effective utilization of the state's resources.
He added that the Prime Minister has placed special emphasis on the development of the northeastern region, which includes eight states.
“Development thrives in a peaceful environment. In the past, we witnessed incidents of murder, terrorism, and violence. Our double-engine government demonstrates that governance can be achieved free from corruption,” he concluded.
