Agartala, May 2 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, announced on Friday that the primary aim of the current BJP administration is to ensure high-quality education for students, with a particular focus on enhancing the digital education framework. During a virtual event marking the inauguration of five newly constructed school buildings in the West district from Ramnagar Higher Secondary School in Agartala, the CM highlighted the importance placed on vocational education by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The investment for the construction of these five school buildings amounted to approximately ₹8.70 crore.
“It is crucial for teachers to remain updated in order to educate students in alignment with technological advancements,” stated Saha, who also oversees the Education portfolio. He reflected on the educational landscape of Tripura in the 1970s, noting that it was marred by chaos.
“At that time, there was an anarchic situation. The futures of many children were jeopardized. However, the education system is undergoing rapid transformations now. The Prime Minister emphasizes that the future of both the country and the state is contingent upon the education of students and youth. Without quality education, there will be no development of human resources,” the CM asserted.
Saha pointed out the significant differences between the old traditional education system and the contemporary one. “We must evolve our education system with time. These improvements have also led to a decrease in dropout rates,” he remarked. He further noted that the government is focusing on enhancing infrastructure within the education sector and is actively recruiting qualified teachers through the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), with plans for more recruitment in the future.
“Our government’s primary objective is to provide quality education to students. One of our aims is to ensure that government policies are effectively implemented,” mentioned the Chief Minister. He asserted that the current era is defined by technology, and thus, teachers must also adapt and update their skills, as today’s students are well-informed.
“The internet has revolutionized various fields. Teachers should concentrate on nurturing students into well-rounded individuals. The Education Department is striving to integrate neglected, impoverished, minority communities, and women into the education system,” he elaborated.
He also announced plans for infrastructural development in 123 schools at an estimated cost of ₹151 crore. “We have allocated over ₹151 crore for the construction of additional classrooms, toilets, laboratories, libraries, hostels, and more within the education system. The state government is prioritizing digital education,” he said.
