Washington, March 24 (NationPress) Former President Donald Trump expressed admiration for FBI Director Kash Patel, who is of Indian descent, during a roundtable discussion focused on the Memphis Safe Task Force. During the meeting, Patel emphasized that this initiative has enabled law enforcement to apprehend violent criminals at unprecedented levels.

While in Memphis, Trump warmly introduced Patel before inviting him to share his insights. He remarked, “FBI Director Kash Patel is a truly remarkable individual. You really should get to know him; he’s fantastic once you do.”

Following Patel’s presentation, Trump reiterated his appreciation, stating, “Thank you, Kash. He did an excellent job.”

Patel seized the opportunity to underscore the administration's commitment to law enforcement and the effectiveness of the Memphis Safe Task Force, which has reportedly led to a significant drop in violent crime in the city over the last six months.

“Thanks to your support, we have been able to capture gang members, rapists, murderers, and drug traffickers at an unprecedented pace,” Patel addressed Trump directly.

He also shared his personal story, providing an Indian-American perspective. “As a first-generation Indian American whose parents escaped a genocide in East Africa, becoming the ninth director of the FBI feels like living the most extraordinary dream imaginable,” he stated.

Patel credited Trump for his unwavering support for law enforcement. “We had a commander-in-chief who stood by the police, provided them with resources, and committed to protecting every single life,” Patel remarked.

The Memphis Safe Task Force, initiated in September 2025, collaborates with federal, state, and local agencies, including the National Guard. Officials utilized the roundtable to present the operation as a blueprint for combating violent crime.

US Marshals Service Director Gady Serralta announced that the task force had made “over 7,342 arrests” within just over six months, with cases involving 44 homicides, 812 drug offenses, and 757 gang-related crimes. Additionally, more than 1,200 illegal firearms were confiscated, and 150 missing children were located and safely returned.

Patel asserted that the Memphis initiative exemplifies what can be achieved through coordinated law enforcement efforts. “This is a long-term mission,” he declared. “It will continue for generations to come.”

Other officials also highlighted the administration’s dedication to this initiative. Attorney General Pam Bondi noted that the task force's success stems from agencies working “hand-in-hand,” while Trump used this gathering to showcase Memphis as an example of how robust federal intervention can effectively reduce crime.

Patel’s presence was particularly notable not only for his pivotal role in the administration’s public safety narrative but also for his ascent as an Indian-American in a key law enforcement position in Washington.
