Washington, March 15 (NationPress) Committing to ongoing initiatives for a more pristine and secure Washington, US President Donald Trump remarked on Saturday, India time, that he conducted a "route inspection" around the White House and the United States Department of State prior to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US capital. This was to ensure that a cleanliness initiative was effectively implemented throughout the vicinity, making it appear appealing and orderly.

"We noted that there were numerous tents right across from the State Department. They needed to be removed, and they did so immediately. So far, so good. We aim to have a capital that is the talk of the globe," Trump expressed while addressing an audience from the Department of Justice (DoJ).

"When Prime Minister Modi of India, the President of France, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom visited me over the past week and a half, I had the route inspected. I did not want them to see tents, graffiti, damaged barriers, or potholes. We ensured it looked splendid," Trump stated.

The US President underscored that his administration is dedicated to ensuring that the American capital is thoroughly cleaned up.

"We are in the process of revitalizing our city. We are rejuvenating this magnificent capital, and we will not tolerate crime. We are committed to removing graffiti, dismantling tents, and collaborating with the administration," Trump remarked, commending Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser for her commendable efforts.

The US President hosted PM Modi for an Official Working Visit in Washington, DC on February 13, which occurred just three weeks after Trump commenced his second term at the White House, reflecting the importance both leaders place on the India-US relationship.

During the two-day visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi resided at the Blair House—a historic guest house that extends 70,000 square feet from the White House.

Upon welcoming PM Modi in his Oval Office, Trump expressed that he was "excited" to greet "friend Narendra Modi" back at the White House.

Additionally, the US President presented PM Modi with a signed copy of his book 'Our Journey Together' during their meeting at the White House, inscribing "you are great".
