Additionally, links are suspected between this case and Abdur Rahman, also known as Dr. Brave, who was apprehended in Bengaluru on August 17, 2020.
Dr. Brave, a former MBBS student at Bangalore Medical College, became radicalized by listening to extremist online lectures, including those by Anwar Awlaki. He later connected with other radicalized youths and traveled to Syria in December 2013 to partake in various ISIS terrorist activities.
Upon returning to India, he maintained a close association with ISIS ideologies and communicated regularly with terror elements both domestically and internationally. Utilizing his expertise in Ophthalmic Lasers and Medical Science, he worked on developing applications for ISIS's medical and military equipment and communicated with ISIS ideology promoter Jahanzaib Sami using the messaging platform 'Threema'. The NIA is investigating the case related to the Islamic State - Khorasan Province registered in New Delhi under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
