Kyiv, Jan 17 (NationPress) Ukrainian and US representatives are set to engage in a new round of discussions this Saturday in Miami, as announced by Ukrainian Ambassador to the US, Olga Stefanishyna.
The delegations aim to finalize agreements concerning security guarantees and the economic stability of Ukraine, which may be formalized at the upcoming World Economic Forum in Davos next week, as per Stefanishyna's update on X.
The Ukrainian team will feature key officials, including the head of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, the chief of the Presidential Office, Kyrylo Budanov, and the Chairman of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, David Arakhamia, according to a report from Xinhua news agency.
The previous discussions between the Ukrainian and US delegations occurred last month.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Friday that Ukraine requires ongoing security guarantees, as reported by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
During a press conference, Zelensky emphasized that Ukrainian and US officials will soon convene to discuss security guarantees and a recovery package for Ukraine, with the potential for agreements to be signed at the World Economic Forum in Davos next week.
He highlighted the urgent need for a consistent supply of missiles for the country's air defense systems to ensure protection.
As of Friday, several air defense systems were reportedly without missiles; however, Zelensky mentioned that a new missile package had been received that morning.
On the other hand, Russia appreciates and supports the United States' initiatives aimed at moving the resolution of the Ukraine conflict toward a political and diplomatic solution. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov remarked on Friday.
Peskov noted, 'The US's efforts to steer the settlement of the Ukraine situation into a political and diplomatic direction resonate with Russia's interests, and we value such initiatives.' He emphasized that achieving peace requires active engagement and cooperation from all involved nations. 'Security is dependent on dialogue. We are partaking in such dialogue with the US and greatly appreciate Washington's efforts in this area,' he added.
'For peace to be realized, collective and reciprocal actions from all parties are essential,' Peskov concluded. He also indicated that Russia remains open to dialogue with the United States while not engaging in discussions with Europe.
