Washington, Dec 22 (NationPress) Separate discussions involving US officials and their Russian and Ukrainian counterparts over the weekend in Florida were deemed productive and constructive, according to Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of US President Donald Trump.

"Over the past two days in Florida, the Russian Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev engaged in productive and constructive meetings with the American delegation to further President Trump’s peace plan concerning Ukraine," Witkoff stated in a post on the social platform X.

He added, "Russia is fully committed to achieving peace in Ukraine". Witkoff emphasized that Russia appreciates the efforts and support from the United States in resolving the Ukrainian conflict and re-establishing global security.

Previously on Sunday, Witkoff also characterized discussions involving the US, Ukraine, and European representatives as "productive and constructive", as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Witkoff noted that the US-Ukraine discussions centered on four critical documents: the further development of a 20-point plan, alignment of positions on a multilateral security guarantee framework, alignment of positions on a US security guarantee framework for Ukraine, and further development of an economic and prosperity plan.

He stated, "Special attention was given to discussing timelines and the sequencing of next steps."

Witkoff remarked, "Ukraine is fully committed to achieving a just and sustainable peace." He highlighted that the shared priority is to halt the violence, ensure guaranteed security, and foster conditions for Ukraine’s recovery, stability, and long-term prosperity.

The Ukrainian delegation featured Rustem Umerov, the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, and Andriy Hnatov, chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The US delegation consisted of Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House staff member Josh Gruenbaum.

Key European National Security Advisors also participated in the discussions to ensure a unified strategic approach among Ukraine, the United States, and Europe, Witkoff noted, adding that Ukraine will continue "close coordination" with both the US and Europe.

During his annual end-of-year press conference in Moscow on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia agrees to resolve the Ukraine crisis through negotiations, while highlighting Russia's battlefield advantages in Ukraine. He further remarked that now "the ball is entirely in the court of Ukraine and its European sponsors."
