Chennai, July 19 (NationPress) Former Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai stated on Saturday that there is absolute unity within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the state, contrasting this with the ongoing confusion within the DMK-led coalition. Speaking to reporters in Namakkal after honoring the late BJP leader ‘Auditor’ V. Ramesh on his death anniversary, Annamalai downplayed any controversy surrounding his previous comments about a potential coalition government in Tamil Nadu.
“I merely reiterated what my party leader, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressed. There is no confusion in the NDA regarding leadership or the chief ministerial candidate for the 2026 Assembly elections,” he stated. He emphasized that both Amit Shah and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami had jointly clarified the alliance’s position, highlighting the clarity compared to the internal disputes within the DMK-led coalition.
“Parties such as the Congress, CPI, CPI(M), and VCK are openly criticizing the DMK while still being part of its coalition. That illustrates the real confusion,” he remarked. Regarding the issue involving Mayiladuthurai Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) DSP Sundaresan, who made allegations against senior police officials and faced suspension recommendations, Annamalai criticized the state government’s actions.
“When an honest officer in uniform must come forward and speak out, it indicates a breakdown of the administration. Suspending the officer instead of investigating his claims is unjust. The Chief Minister, who also manages the Home portfolio, should step in and ensure justice,” he asserted. The BJP leader also expressed concerns regarding an alleged kidney sale racket reported in the rural areas of the Namakkal district.
Calling for swift action, he urged the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT). “For organ transplants, approvals from various government bodies are mandatory. However, here, middlemen are functioning like an organized crime syndicate. This racket has surfaced solely due to media exposure. The government must form an SIT and conduct a comprehensive investigation,” Annamalai insisted.
Meanwhile, in Salem, BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran paid tribute to the late ‘Auditor’ Ramesh at the site of his murder in Maravaneri. Speaking to reporters, he emphasized that the BJP would steadfastly support Ramesh’s family and honor his memory. He also extended condolences to the family of M.K. Muthu, the eldest son of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, who passed away in Chennai earlier that day.
