New Delhi, Aug 11 (NationPress) In a bid to improve the usability and performance of the UMEED Central Portal 2025, a workshop-cum-interaction session took place with representatives from Waqf Boards across five northern states and a Union Territory at the Ministry of Minority Affairs on August 8, 2025, as confirmed by an official on Monday.

This session featured one-on-one discussions between officials from the Ministry of Minority Affairs and State Waqf Boards regarding matters pertaining to UMEED Central Portal 2025, involving participants from Punjab, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Chandigarh.

The portal was inaugurated on June 6 in accordance with the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development Act, 1995, by the Union Minister for the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

Chaired by Joint Secretary (Waqf) Shersha C. Shaik Mohiddin, the workshop included senior officials and the technical team from the Ministry to address issues related to the UMEED Central Portal and the updating of data related to Waqf properties.

Representatives from each state articulated their concerns and provided suggestions aimed at enhancing the portal's usability and performance. The Joint Secretary urged state authorities to deliver training on the portal to boost its efficiency and improve user experience.

The Ministry of Minority Affairs is actively collaborating with various States/UTs and State Waqf Boards to expedite the uploading of Waqf property data onto the UMEED Central Portal for better management of Waqf properties nationwide.

In response to a query in Parliament, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, stated that under the Youth Parliament Programme, multiple Youth Parliament Competitions have been held for schools and colleges in Delhi, with participation exceeding 5 lakh students.

These competitions are organized based on the structure of the respective parent stakeholder organizations rather than on a state-wise basis, as clarified by the MoS.

To enhance the accessibility and reach of the Youth Parliament Programme across underserved regions, a web portal for the National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) has been launched for all educational institutions/groups/citizens to engage through Institutional Participation, Group Participation for Youth Parliament Sittings, and Individual Participation via quizzes focused on the theme of ‘Bharatiya Democracy in Action’.

Educational institutions and groups can conduct Youth Parliament sittings following the portal's guidelines, upload event videos and photos, and receive digital certificates. Additionally, the portal offers digital resources such as literature on Youth Parliament, model debates, questions, scripts, and video tutorials, available at www.nyps.mpa.gov.in.

Point of View

I believe that the collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Waqf Boards are crucial for enhancing the functionality of the UMEED portal. This initiative reflects a commitment to maximizing the management of Waqf properties, ensuring transparency and efficiency, which ultimately serves the nation's interests.
