New Delhi, Dec 15 (NationPress) In response to the Congress's claims of ‘vote chori’, former Prime Minister and JD-S Rajya Sabha member H.D. Deve Gowda asserted on Monday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is destined to return to power following the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.
“PM Modi will indeed return to power after the next Lok Sabha elections in 2029,” said the former Prime Minister during a debate regarding the ‘vote chori’ controversy in the Rajya Sabha.
Deve Gowda emphasized that the citizens of India possess “complete faith” in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
He criticized the Congress party for casting doubts on Prime Minister Modi’s governance through propaganda surrounding “vote chori”, suggesting that they are merely sowing seeds of suspicion in the minds of voters.
The former Prime Minister claimed that the INDIA Bloc is fabricating a distorted narrative against PM Modi and constitutional bodies under the guise of “vote chori”.
“By making such unfounded allegations, Congress is likely to face severe repercussions in the future as they persist in spreading misinformation and instilling doubt among voters. This tactic will not favor their cause,” he stated.
Deve Gowda reaffirmed that India has an Election Commission and a Supreme Court, which Congress should utilize effectively.
“The Election Commission has directed all state units to resolve such matters,” he mentioned.
Earlier, he remarked that India has seen deficiencies in its electoral process even during the tenure of its first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
“Shortcomings in our electoral system were evident even during Nehru’s administration,” he noted while addressing the Rajya Sabha on the ‘vote chori’ issue.
He also referred to a correspondence from Jawaharlal Nehru regarding the inclusion of 18,000 voters in Kerala.
Having served as Prime Minister from June 1, 1996, to April 21, 1997, Deve Gowda recounted his experiences of both victories and defeats in elections over his extensive public career spanning over seven decades.
“I have never spoken about vote theft,” he stated.
Despite raising concerns about discrepancies in voter lists, the Congress party recently suffered a defeat in the Bihar elections.
He urged Congress to contemplate the implications of their defeat in Bihar, despite a thorough revision of the voter lists.
“Congress managed to secure only six seats in that state,” he remarked.
Deve Gowda highlighted that India is an expansive nation, and Congress governs only in a few states.
“My opposition colleagues, please remember that employing terms like ‘vote chori’ will lead to difficulties for you in the future. You will not win the battle,” the former Prime Minister cautioned Congress.
