Lucknow, March 15 (NationPress) In light of the recent uproar regarding a question posed in the Uttar Pradesh police Sub-Inspector recruitment examination, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken a firm position, asserting that any comments undermining the dignity or religious beliefs of any caste, sect, region, or community will be strictly prohibited.
The controversy erupted after a question in the recruitment exam, which began on Saturday, raised eyebrows. The query asked, "Avsar ke anusaar badal jaane wala (Who changes according to the situation)?" and one of the answer choices included the term "Pandit", sparking significant objections.
In response to the backlash, the Chief Minister instructed the heads of all recruitment boards to ensure that "no demeaning comments are made regarding the dignity or religious feelings of any person, caste, sect, or community".
According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, “Such remarks are intolerable under any circumstances”.
CM Yogi further emphasized the seriousness of this matter and demanded that explicit guidelines be provided to everyone involved in the crafting of examination questions.
He warned that paper setters who fail in this regard could face severe repercussions, including possible blacklisting for habitual offenders.
Additionally, the Chief Minister mandated that this condition be included as a crucial clause in the Memorandum of Understanding with paper setters to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Earlier on Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak also voiced strong objections regarding the contentious question.
In a statement on the social media platform X, Pathak confirmed that the government is treating the issue with utmost seriousness, insisting that such content should not feature in examination materials.
“We vehemently oppose the options presented in the question from the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment Examination. The government has taken this matter extremely seriously. It is entirely unacceptable for any question to undermine the dignity of any community or class,” he stated.
Pathak further stressed that derogatory language aimed at any caste, community, or tradition should never appear in official examination documents.
He concluded by stating, “I want to emphasize that derogatory terms against any caste, community, or tradition have no place. Instructions have been issued for an immediate investigation into the entire matter, and strict actions will be taken against those responsible.”
The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated the state government's commitment to upholding respect and equality for all segments of society.
“The Uttar Pradesh government operates on principles of respect, equality, and sensitivity towards all communities. The dignity of every citizen in the state is our foremost concern,” he added.
