New Delhi, Feb 7 (NationPress) Aadhaar holders executed over 284 crore authentication transactions in January, showcasing the ongoing growth of the digital economy in the nation, as stated by the government on Friday.

This marks a rise of more than 32 percent compared to the same month last year, when 214.8 crore transactions were recorded, according to the Ministry of Electronics and IT.

During January, over 43 crore eKYC transactions took place, taking the cumulative total of Aadhaar e-KYC transactions beyond 2,268 crore by month-end.

On average, more than 9 crore authentications are conducted daily.

This demonstrates the increasing adoption and functionality of Aadhaar in everyday life. Approximately 550 entities are utilizing the Aadhaar authentication service.

Aadhaar face authentication transactions are also gaining significant traction.

“In January, nearly 12 crore Aadhaar face authentication transactions were executed. Cumulatively, the face authentication transaction count has surpassed 102 crore since its launch in October 2021,” the ministry reported.

About 78 crore of these face authentication transactions occurred in the past year alone.

The AI/ML-based face authentication solution, developed internally by UIDAI, is being employed across various sectors, including finance, insurance, fintech, healthcare, and telecommunications.

Numerous government departments, both at the central and state levels, are implementing it for efficient delivery of services to targeted beneficiaries.

The Aadhaar e-KYC service remains crucial in banking and non-banking financial services by enhancing transparency and customer experience while facilitating ease of business, according to the ministry.

Last month, the government broadened the scope of Aadhaar authentication to both government and private entities for delivering various services in the public interest, thereby promoting innovation, knowledge, and enhancement of public services.

This amendment will enable individuals to effortlessly access services in e-commerce, travel, tourism, hospitality, and healthcare provided by non-government entities.
