Mumbai, Aug 19 (NationPress) Almost 43 percent of Indian employees express confidence in integrating generative and agentic AI into their professional tasks within the next two to five years, according to a report released on Tuesday.
A survey conducted with over 3,000 white and blue-collar workers across India, by job portal Indeed, revealed that mid-career professionals aged 35 to 54 demonstrate the highest level of readiness for AI-enhanced workplaces, with 49 percent indicating preparedness that surpasses their younger counterparts aged 18 to 24.
Survey participants see AI as essential for maintaining employability, advancing their careers, and unlocking future opportunities. The findings indicate that AI is regarded not merely as a productivity enhancement tool but as a valuable skill that can lead to increased salaries, promotions, and new job prospects.
Furthermore, 56 percent of mid-career individuals express a desire for additional training to remain competitive, contrasting with only 41 percent of younger workers who feel the same way.
Key motivators for this transition include opportunities for career growth, keeping up with technological advancements, and enhancing workplace efficiency. Approximately one-third of the respondents worry about job security if they do not adapt to technological developments.
About 34 percent of those surveyed anticipate regular use of generative AI tools in the foreseeable future, while 25 percent expect to adopt agentic AI tools—AI systems capable of independently performing sophisticated tasks.
“Mid-career professionals are proactively pursuing upskilling in AI to excel in their roles. The growing interest in 'agentic AI' signifies that we are on the brink of a significant change, where job seekers are not just reacting to shifts but are at the forefront of leading them,” stated Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India.
Notably, even among blue-collar workers, 20 percent are already utilizing generative AI for functions such as optimizing paperwork and improving customer service, as highlighted by the report.
