Mumbai, Feb 25 (NationPress) Adani Electricity, a prominent power distribution firm catering to over 3 million clients in Mumbai, is proactively preparing for the expected surge in power demand this summer by utilizing advanced technology and enhancing its infrastructure, as stated by the company on Tuesday.

The rapid urban growth and economic development in Mumbai are contributing to a substantial increase in electricity usage. To guarantee a stable and uninterrupted power supply for its customers during the summer months, Adani Electricity plans to fulfill demand through a mix of long-term and short-term contracts.

This strategy includes 1,300 MW from long-term agreements, renewable energy sources (solar, wind, and hybrid), 500 MW from medium-term contracts, and 700 MW of additional solar and wind power obtained through short-term contracts. Furthermore, Adani Electricity has arranged approximately 300 MW through a banking agreement. Any extra power needed will be sourced from the short-term power market, according to the company.

The distribution company is also employing AI and machine learning for demand forecasting, allowing for precise predictions of electricity needs at various times of the day. These systems scrutinize historical consumption trends, weather forecasts, and real-time grid conditions to enhance power procurement and avert shortages. This includes additional renewable energy acquisition to lessen reliance on traditional sources and ensure a more sustainable and reliable supply during peak summer periods.

Adani Electricity has established a cutting-edge Network Operation Centre (NOC) alongside automated substations that facilitate real-time monitoring and control of the power grid. This technology enables effective load management, rapid fault detection and resolution, and optimized power distribution, thereby minimizing outages and maximizing grid stability.

The company has also rolled out smart meters across its grid, giving customers comprehensive insights into their energy consumption patterns. AEML is utilizing AI/ML to anticipate electricity demand and procure power through optimization algorithms, securing low-cost power to avoid outages.

AEML is further utilizing AI/ML within its customer service operations by predicting call volumes and adjusting staff levels based on demand, which reduces customer wait times. Machine learning models are also evaluating agent performance and analyzing customer sentiment to improve overall service quality.

"We are also developing Generative AI-based agents to respond to customer inquiries accurately and swiftly," the company stated.

Adani Electricity emphasizes its commitment to providing a reliable power supply by balancing renewable and conventional energy sources.

"This summer, our anticipated power demand is expected to peak at 2,200 MW, an increase from 2,089 MW last year. Our priority is to deliver a seamless power supply to Mumbai while enhancing our commitment to renewable energy," a spokesperson from Adani Electricity mentioned.

"By implementing strategic long-term and short-term contracts, we are ensuring that customers receive uninterrupted power even during peak summer months, with an increasing proportion of clean energy sources."

Adani Electricity’s proactive strategy for managing power demand has garnered recognition with numerous awards, including top positions in national evaluations conducted by the Ministry of Power. The company is committed to providing exceptional service to its customers and ensuring a bright and powered future for Mumbai, the statement concluded.
