Ahmedabad, June 2 (NationPress) The Adani Group has categorically rejected a report by the Wall Street Journal regarding supposed ties between its entities and Iranian LPG, labeling the claims as "groundless and deceitful".
In a filing with the stock exchange, Adani Enterprises stated: "We firmly deny any intentional involvement in sanctions evasion or trade related to Iranian-origin LPG, and we are unaware of any investigation by US authorities on this issue."
According to the company, "The WSJ article seems to be based on erroneous assumptions and conjecture. Any implication that Adani Group entities are knowingly violating US sanctions on Iran is vigorously refuted," adding that such claims "could not only be libelous but also considered a deliberate attempt to harm the reputation and interests of the Adani Group."
The statement further emphasized, "The Adani Group does not operate or manage any vessels owned by Iranian entities. This guideline is strictly followed at all our ports."
The shipment mentioned in the WSJ report was conducted through a "standard commercial transaction via third-party logistics partners" and documented as originating from Sohar, Oman, the group clarified.
Adani Enterprises pointed out that the LPG segment contributes a mere 1.46 percent to its total consolidated revenue, and emphasized that all trading activities by Adani entities are in full compliance with relevant domestic and international regulations, including US sanctions.
As a recognized importer of LPG, due diligence and KYC procedures for suppliers are rigorously performed to verify that no entities or individuals are included on the OFAC sanctions list. "The logistics of our LPG trade are handled by reputable international suppliers and logistics companies that ensure adherence to global compliance standards," the company stated in its stock exchange announcement.
Furthermore, "All supplies operate under valid contracts with suppliers, which include specific clauses ensuring that products originate from non-sanctioned nations," the statement concluded.
