Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Ahmedabad, Feb 5 (NationPress) On Thursday, Adani Mangal Seva celebrated a year dedicated to providing dignity and opportunity for 500 'divyang' (persons with disabilities) women. Initiated on February 5 last year, this program is a testament to Diva and Jeet Adani's commitment to transforming their wedding festivities into a meaningful pledge for social security for divyang women.
Facilitated by the Adani Foundation, the social welfare wing of the Adani Group, the initiative aids divyang women aged between 25 and 40, who have been identified by project partner Youth for Jobs and possess a Unique Disability ID (UDID).
According to a statement from the foundation, “In its inaugural year, the initiative successfully met its goal of assisting 500 divyang women, each receiving a Rs 10 lakh Fixed Deposit to guarantee a monthly income and long-term financial security.”
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed his pride, stating, “As a caring father, I am genuinely grateful that my children are extending their personal joy into the lives of numerous families, instilling hope and resilience where it is most needed. I pray that this spirit of service continues to enrich countless lives with dignity and renewed hope.”
As part of the Adani Mangal Seva initiative, each participant is granted a Rs 10 lakh fixed deposit, established in collaboration with State Bank of India (SBI). This framework provides a guaranteed monthly income, with access to the principal sum after a decade, ensuring enduring financial stability and security.
The initiative aims to support 500 divyang women each year, with an annual budget of Rs 50 crore dedicated to maintaining its impact over at least five years.
The occasion was marked by an evening of reflection at the Belvedere Club lawns in Shantigram, commemorating a year since the launch of Adani Mangal Seva.
The event began with prayer and reflection, followed by a presentation that reinforced the core belief of Adani Mangal Seva: true prosperity is realized only when it creates lasting opportunities for others.
Dr. Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, articulated, “The essence of Adani Mangal Seva stems from the profound idea that personal happiness reaches its pinnacle when shared for the betterment of society. When we experience joy, extending that joy to the community is the essence of true service. This program is more than just an initiative; it is a deep emotional commitment and a responsibility we shoulder.”
During the event, Gautam Adani also unveiled a book under Adani Mangal Seva, showcasing transformative stories. The evening concluded with a communal dinner, preserving its inclusive and grounded nature.
