New Delhi, April 11 (NationPress) The clinical laboratory at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Bengaluru has proudly received the prestigious ‘ISO 15189:2022’ accreditation in both biochemistry and haematology, becoming the very first institute under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) to reach this significant milestone, as announced on Saturday.

This accreditation is a major advancement for quality-assured healthcare under the Ministry of Ayush, assuring patients that the laboratory provides accurate, reliable, and safe diagnostic results that meet international quality standards.

According to the Ministry of Ayush, this accomplishment signifies the laboratory's evolution from an initial NABL-certified facility to a fully accredited center of excellence.

“Achieving international accreditation guarantees that patients have access to trustworthy and precise diagnostic services, which are crucial for effective treatment and enhanced health outcomes. This achievement by CARI Bengaluru illustrates how the Ministry is progressively transforming Ayush infrastructure into a standard of quality and dependability,” stated Prataprao Jadhav, Minister of State (Independent Charge) at the Ministry of Ayush.

The recognition of CARI Bengaluru as the pioneering CCRAS institute with ISO 15189:2022 accreditation in both Biochemistry and Haematology is a groundbreaking step toward merging high-quality diagnostics with traditional medical systems. It strengthens our commitment to evidence-based practice, research, and patient-centric care, added Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush.

The laboratory currently boasts NABL accreditation for 50 test parameters across Biochemistry and Haematology.

It offers a broad spectrum of diagnostic services, including blood glucose, HbA1c, liver and kidney function tests, lipid and thyroid profiles, electrolytes, and complete blood counts, among others—enabling precise evaluation of metabolic, hormonal, and blood-related disorders.

In the period of 2025–26, the laboratory performed over 1.52 lakh investigations, catering to more than 9,300 patients—demonstrating its expanding capacity and dedication to quality diagnostics.

Professor Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, remarked that the recent NABL accreditation of CARI Bengaluru, building upon its previous NABH and NABL certifications and ongoing progress towards BIS IS/ISO 9001:2015, alongside its role as an Ayurveda Science Incubation Centre under the Ministry of Ayush, substantially elevates quality standards, placing Ayurveda research and innovation at the forefront of scientific rigor and excellence.
