Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 14 (NationPress) Jai Anmol Ambani, son of Anil Ambani, underwent extensive questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for the second consecutive day regarding the Rs 228 crore fraud case tied to Reliance Home Finance Ltd (RHFL).
According to sources, the interrogation took place from approximately 11 am to 4 pm.
The inquiry pertains to a purported bank fraud case where he is implicated alongside Ravindra Sudhalkar, the former CEO of RHFL, and several others.
No immediate statements were provided by the company.
Previously, on Friday, Jai Anmol Ambani faced questioning in the same fraud case for around six-and-a-half hours at the CBI's headquarters in the capital.
He was summoned again on Saturday for further interrogation by the investigative officer.
The CBI initiated the investigation on December 6, 2025, concerning the alleged bank fraud involving RHFL, Jai Anmol Ambani, Ravindra Sudhalkar, unidentified individuals, and public servants.
The criminal case was filed against RHFL, part of the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, its directors, and unnamed bank officials following a complaint from Union Bank of India.
This complaint suggested a criminal conspiracy, cheating, and misconduct, leading to a wrongful loss of Rs 228.06 crore to Union Bank of India (previously Andhra Bank).
Officials noted that RHFL's account was classified as a non-performing asset (NPA) on September 30, 2019, and subsequently marked as fraudulent on October 10, 2024, by Union Bank of India.
RHFL had secured loans totaling Rs 5,572.35 crore from various banks, financial institutions, and corporate entities, including Union Bank of India.
The agency is thoroughly investigating claims that the accused company defrauded several banks and financial institutions.
On December 9, 2025, the CBI executed searches at two official locations of RHFL and the residences of Jai Anmol Ambani and Ravindra Sudhalkar in Mumbai, obtaining search warrants from the Special CBI Court in Mumbai.
Numerous incriminating documents were confiscated during these searches.
