CES 2025: Samsung Display Set to Showcase Innovative Foldable and OLED Screens for IT Devices and Automotive Applications

Seoul, Jan 5 (NationPress) Samsung Display, a subsidiary responsible for screen production under Samsung Electronics, revealed on Sunday its plans to introduce a diverse collection of both foldable and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays at the forthcoming CES 2025. This initiative aims to enhance its reach beyond smartphones and penetrate the IT and automotive markets.

The company’s premier foldable screens for IT gadgets and advanced display technologies for vehicles will be showcased at its exhibition space during the annual technology event in Las Vegas, which kicks off on Tuesday and lasts for four days, as reported by the Yonhap news agency.

Leveraging its experience as the provider of foldable displays for Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series, Samsung Display is emphasizing its innovations in automotive contexts and artificial intelligence applications.

A major attraction of the display will be the world’s first 18.1-inch foldable monitor, in addition to new offerings like slidable and multi-foldable screens.

The 18.1-inch foldable panel for IT devices presents the equivalent size of two tablets when fully extended. When collapsed, it transforms into a 13.1-inch laptop display with touch capabilities.

Attendees will also encounter OLED-powered tablets and laptops, which feature reduced power usage and exceptional color accuracy, making them perfect for outdoor environments.

In addition to IT gadgets, Samsung Display is setting its sights on the automotive industry with a variety of groundbreaking products designed to improve driver assistance systems, overall functionality, and the aesthetic appeal of car interiors.

A significant feature is the demonstration of cockpits that utilize under-panel camera (UPC) technology, integrating the camera beneath the display for a streamlined design.

This UPC technology, initially created for foldable displays to provide an uninterrupted full-screen experience, is making its debut in vehicles, as the report states.
