Companies Report No Disruptions in Logistics and Telecom Amid Martial Law Crisis

Seoul, Dec 4 (NationPress) Firms operating in the logistics, maritime, and telecom industries have confirmed that there have been no damages or service interruptions as of Wednesday, despite a temporary declaration of emergency martial law that unsettled the country.
E-commerce giants Coupang Inc. and SSG.com Corp. reported that their delivery services continued to function smoothly. CJ Logistics Corp., recognized as the largest logistics firm in the nation, also indicated that their services remained unaffected, as per reports from the Yonhap news agency.
The companies stated that they faced no operational challenges since a curfew had not been imposed. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries confirmed that shipping and logistics activities at ports nationwide were proceeding as usual.
Telecom providers also indicated that there were no network outages, but they were on alert for any potential disruptions.
SK Telecom Co., KT Corp, and LG Uplus Corp. all emphasized that they were diligently monitoring their services to ensure stable network operations.
The internet portal sector reported no major interruptions, aside from minor issues on Naver Corp.'s online community platform late Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the termination of emergency martial law early Wednesday, following a vote by the National Assembly to end it, with the United States expressing "grave concern" over the brief turmoil.
His Cabinet sanctioned a motion to cease martial law enforcement at 4:30 a.m., approximately six hours after the unexpected emergency declaration, which accused the opposition of "paralyzing" the government with "anti-state" actions—a decision that sparked widespread concern across the nation and abroad.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that troops mobilized to enforce martial law have returned to their bases, signaling a return to normalcy.
The martial law announcement sent shockwaves throughout the country and internationally. U.S. officials have voiced "grave concern" and expressed hope that any "political" disputes in South Korea will be resolved peacefully.
