DCM Shriram Q2 FY27 profit drops 34% to ₹105 crore; ₹4 interim dividend declared
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
DCM Shriram Limited on Monday, 26 October 2026, reported a 33.5 per cent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit to ₹105 crore for the second quarter of FY27 (Q2 FY27), down from ₹158 crore in the same period last year. Despite a sharp rise in revenues, margin pressure and a steep fall in other income weighed heavily on the company's bottom line.
Revenue Rises, But Profitability Slips
The diversified conglomerate's revenue from operations climbed 21.6 per cent year-on-year to ₹3,977 crore in Q2 FY27, up from ₹3,271 crore in Q2 FY26, according to its stock exchange filing. However, higher sales failed to translate into improved profitability, as operating performance remained under pressure throughout the quarter.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell 5.7 per cent to ₹292 crore from ₹309 crore in the year-ago quarter. Consequently, the EBITDA margin contracted sharply to 7.3 per cent from 9.4 per cent, per its regulatory filing — a sign that cost escalation outpaced revenue growth during the period.
Sharp Fall in Other Income Compounds the Damage
A particularly notable drag came from other income, which fell steeply to ₹27 crore from ₹99 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year — a decline of more than 72 per cent. This sharp contraction, combined with compressed operating margins, largely explains the disproportionate fall in net profit relative to EBITDA. Tax expenses, however, decreased to ₹47.8 crore from ₹87.1 crore, offering limited relief to the bottom line.
Segment Performance: Chemicals and Vinyl Lead Revenue
The Chemicals and Vinyl business emerged as DCM Shriram's largest revenue contributor during the quarter, posting ₹1,576.66 crore compared with ₹1,108.40 crore in the year-ago period — a strong year-on-year improvement. The Sugar and Ethanol segment contributed ₹1,197.21 crore, while the Fertiliser business generated ₹501.87 crore.
Shriram Farm Solutions posted revenue of ₹423.06 crore, and Fenesta Building Systems contributed ₹344.44 crore during the quarter. The diversified revenue base continues to provide stability, even as individual segment margins face headwinds.
Interim Dividend of ₹4 Declared for FY27
Alongside the quarterly results, DCM Shriram's board declared an interim dividend of ₹4 per equity share for FY27, representing 200 per cent of the face value of ₹2 per share. The company has fixed 30 October 2026 as the record date for determining eligible shareholders. The dividend payment is expected to be made within 30 days from the date of declaration.
This interim dividend signals the board's intent to continue rewarding shareholders even amid a challenging quarter — a posture consistent with DCM Shriram's historical dividend track record. Investors and analysts will be closely watching whether margin recovery materialises in the second half of FY27.
