New Delhi, July 1 (NationPress) The decade-long journey of Digital India has redefined various sectors, making them more inclusive and innovative, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday. The Digital India initiative, which was launched in 2015 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed to democratize access, create an inclusive digital framework, and offer opportunities for everyone.
“The Digital India initiative has democratized technology, positioning India as a global leader in the digital space. From healthcare and education to business and commerce, every sector has become more inclusive, innovative, and prepared for the future by empowering individuals and fostering a sustainable digital economy,” Shah emphasized in a social media post on platform X.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda highlighted that digital advancements have led to groundbreaking initiatives such as e-Sanjeevani, the National Telemedicine Service, and the U-WIN portal, which digitalizes vaccination records for children and expectant mothers.
Over the last decade, the Digital India initiative has initiated a digital revolution across the nation, creating a strong digital infrastructure that not only connects millions but also narrows the digital gap among citizens.
“The impact of digitalization has simplified our lives while enhancing transparency in governance. Revolutionary initiatives like e-Sanjeevani, U-WIN, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), eNAM, and UPI payments have optimized processes, preventing leakages by ensuring effective, accountable, and timely delivery of benefits,” Nadda stated.
The Health Minister reiterated the commitment of the Modi government to extend digital access so that every citizen, even those in remote regions, can easily access essential services.
Earlier, PM Modi shared on LinkedIn how each sector has been revitalized due to this initiative, mentioning how the CoWIN web portal has supported and improved the effectiveness of India's Covid-19 vaccination campaign.
“CoWIN facilitated the world's largest vaccination drive, issuing over 220 crore QR-verifiable certificates,” PM Modi remarked.
