New Delhi, Oct 15 (NationPress) The FASTag Annual Pass, introduced by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on August 15, has successfully surpassed 25 lakh users and has recorded approximately 5.67 crore transactions on National Highways within a mere two months of its launch, as reported by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Wednesday.
This innovative pass aims to simplify highway travel, making it both easier and more cost-effective. It is valid at around 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways.
“The FASTag Annual Pass has garnered an impressive response from users of National Highways, reaching the significant milestone of twenty-five lakh users along with roughly 5.67 crore transactions recorded nationwide over the past two months,” the ministry stated.
Its primary goal is to improve the ‘Ease of Commuting’ by providing a hassle-free payment solution for regular highway travelers.
The annual pass allows owners of non-commercial vehicles to make a one-time payment of Rs 3,000 for a validity period of one year or up to 200 toll crossings, whichever occurs first.
This system removes the necessity for frequent FASTag recharges. After making the payment via the RajmargYatra App or the NHAI website, the pass is activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle.
However, the pass is non-transferable and is exclusively valid on National Highways and National Expressways.
At toll plazas on State Highways or expressways managed by state authorities or local organizations, users are required to continue utilizing their FASTag wallet balance for tolls and parking.
The NHAI emphasized that the robust response to the FASTag Annual Pass reflects its dedication to delivering a safe, efficient, and seamless travel experience for commuters across India's expanding network of National Highways.
“The remarkable response to the FASTag annual pass from National Highway users highlights NHAI's commitment to providing a secure, smooth, and hassle-free travel experience on National Highways throughout the country,” the ministry concluded.
