New Delhi, April 19 (NationPress) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is preparing for an official trip to the United States and Peru, commencing on April 20. Her agenda includes participating in multilateral discussions aimed at showcasing India's economic vitality, with a focus on a forthcoming bilateral trade agreement (BTA) with the US, as announced on Saturday.

While in the US, the Finance Minister will visit San Francisco and Washington, DC, from April 20-25, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance.

In San Francisco, FM Sitharaman is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, titled ‘Laying the Foundations of Viksit Bharat 2047,’ and will follow this with a fireside chat session.

The Finance Minister will also engage with leading CEOs from top fund management companies during a roundtable discussion with investors, in addition to conducting bilateral meetings with executives from major information technology (IT) firms based in San Francisco.

She will participate in an event that connects with the Indian diaspora in San Francisco, fostering interactions with the local Indian community, as per the ministry.

In Washington, DC, FM Sitharaman will take part in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, including the 2nd G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) Meetings, the Development Committee Plenary, IMFC Plenary, and the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable (GSDR).

On the sidelines of these meetings, she will hold bilateral discussions with her counterparts from several nations, such as Argentina, Bahrain, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the US; in addition to meetings with the EU Commissioner for Financial Services, the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the United Nations Secretary-General's Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA), and the First Deputy Managing Director of the IMF.

During her inaugural visit to Peru from April 26-30, the Finance Minister will lead an Indian delegation comprised of officials from the Ministry of Finance and business leaders, underscoring the strengthening of economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Beginning her trip in Lima, she is expected to meet with the President of Peru, Dina Boluarte, and Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen, in addition to holding bilateral discussions with various Peruvian Ministers including Finance and Economy, Defence, and Energy and Mines, along with engaging local public representatives.

The Finance Minister will chair the India-Peru Business Forum meeting with notable business figures from both India and Peru.

FM Sitharaman will also interact with Indian investors and businesses already operating in Peru, as well as the visiting Indian business delegation. Furthermore, she will take part in a community event in Lima, where she will connect with the Indian diaspora residing in Peru, according to the ministry's statement.
