GIFT Nifty Achieves Record Monthly Turnover of $129.80 Billion in March

New Delhi, April 2 (NationPress) — In a remarkable achievement, GIFT Nifty achieved its largest monthly turnover of $129.80 billion during March, breaking its previous record of $106.22 billion set in October 2025, as reported by NSE International Exchange (IX) on Thursday.
Additionally, the exchange noted that the total trading volume reached an unprecedented 2.82 million contracts in March, surpassing the former peak of 2.17 million contracts recorded in April 2025.
This milestone in March adds to a series of achievements by the India-linked derivatives contract.
In February, GIFT Nifty marked its highest single-day trading volume of 457,989 contracts, with a single-day turnover of $23.48 billion, exceeding the prior single-day record of $22.88 billion from January 23, 2024.
The previous monthly record of $106.22 billion in October 2025 had already outdone the earlier high of $102.35 billion set in May 2025, highlighting the continuous increase in trading activities over the past year.
Since its full-scale operations began on July 3, 2023, GIFT Nifty has amassed a cumulative trading volume of over 63.37 million contracts with a total turnover of $2.92 trillion through March 2026.
In contrast, the cumulative volume was 60.05 million contracts amounting to $2.76 trillion as of February 2026, demonstrating a notable surge in the final month of the fiscal year.
NSEIX, which commands a market share of over 99.7 percent among international exchanges at GIFT City, was established on June 5, 2017, and is recognized by the International Financial Services Centre Authority.
The exchange provides a wide range of products, including Indian single stock derivatives, index derivatives, currency derivatives, and depository receipts, alongside primary market offerings like equity shares, REITs, InvITs, and ESG debt securities under the IFSCA Listing Regulations, 2024.
Currently, GIFT Nifty futures, considered an early indicator of the Nifty index, were trading at 22,706, experiencing a decrease of 144.5 points or 0.63 percent.
It’s worth noting that this indicator was previously known as SGX Nifty while traded on the Singapore Exchange.
