New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) Global passenger vehicle (PV) infotainment system sales increased by 3 percent year-on-year in 2024, based on a recent report released on Monday.

Sales of infotainment systems worldwide are anticipated to expand at a CAGR of 3 percent from 2025 to 2035, exceeding 105 million units each year.

Regions such as Southeast Asia (SEA), North America (including Canada and Mexico), and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) are predicted to be the fastest-growing markets during the period from 2025 to 2035. This growth is attributed to rising car sales in these areas and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) launching cutting-edge features, according to the report by Counterpoint Research.

On a global scale, major suppliers like Harman and Panasonic have experienced a decline in market share.

Associate Director Greg Basich noted that certain automakers, including Tesla and Leapmotor, are adopting vertical integration strategies to produce infotainment systems independently, aiming for enhanced control over their supply chains.

This strategy could create challenges for traditional infotainment system suppliers, possibly resulting in consolidation within the supplier network as the industry shifts towards software-defined vehicles.

As the automotive sector transitions to software-defined vehicles, we are observing that the entire cockpit—comprising the infotainment system—is now managed by multi-function electronic control units (ECUs) featuring more powerful processors, moving away from conventional single-function ECU control systems, explained senior analyst Soumen Mandal.

"In the future, we anticipate an increase in high-performance computing (HPC) systems that will integrate both cockpit and ADAS functionalities. This evolution is drawing interest from global chipset manufacturers like Qualcomm, NVIDIA, MediaTek, and Samsung,” he stated.

Vice President Ross Young commented, “We are observing a shift in display size preferences, with the number of screens in the 5 inch-10 inch category declining while those in the 10 inch-15 inch category are on the rise.”

“Although premium and luxury brands are providing center infotainment displays larger than 15 inches, their market share remains below 1.5 percent,” Young added.
