New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) The government is unwavering in its commitment to fortifying India’s deep-tech ecosystem, enhancing the ease of doing business, alleviating compliance burdens, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, stated Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday.

His comments were made during the launch of the ‘Startup Search Initiative’ by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) and PlastIndia Foundation, a program designed to elevate innovation and sustainability within the plastics sector.

At the launch event, which took place simultaneously in New Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai, Goyal emphasized that the new initiative supports India’s ambition of achieving 100 percent reuse and recycling of plastics.

“The government is devoted to reinforcing India's deep tech ecosystem, enhancing ease of doing business, minimizing compliance burdens, and driving innovation and entrepreneurship,” Goyal reiterated.

“I hope this initiative propels the plastics industry toward achieving 100 percent reuse and recycling of plastics, aligning with India's national sustainability objectives and the increasing global demand for circular and environmentally responsible products,” he remarked.

He further noted that such initiatives are crucial for fulfilling both national sustainability ambitions and global standards for circular and environmentally responsible products.

The minister expressed optimism that the platform would enable the plastics industry to leap forward in adopting new technologies and greener practices.

The Startup Search Initiative is designed to link promising innovators and entrepreneurs with investors, industry leaders, and funding opportunities.

This program emphasizes solutions related to recycling, new materials, sustainability, and the circular economy.

Selected startups will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations at PLASTINDIA 2026, one of India’s largest plastics exhibitions, scheduled for next February in New Delhi under the theme “Bharat Next.”

Ravish Kamath, President of PlastIndia Foundation, stated that the collaboration with IIM Calcutta will aid in identifying high-potential startups through a national innovation challenge.

The top 10 startups will receive prize money exceeding Rs 2 lakh each and gain exclusive mentorship from IIM Calcutta. He emphasized that the aim is to stimulate breakthrough ideas capable of transforming the plastics industry.
