New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) Aamir Rashid Ali, a resident of Kashmir, has been accused of collaborating with Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi, the individual behind the November 10 terrorist attack near the Red Fort. Reports indicate that he disclosed critical information about the bombing, asserting that its aim was to instill fear within the public and undermine the unity and sovereignty of India, according to sources on Monday.
Sources further revealed that the NIA elaborated in its remand note that Aamir is connected to Dr Umar Muhammad Nabi, the principal suspect in the blast incident near the Red Fort police post.
At just 24 years of age, Aamir, who hails from Sambor, Pulwama, was responsible for arranging the vehicle utilized in the explosion.
The underlying motive for the blast was to generate panic among the populace and to attack India's integrity and sovereignty, the sources added.
The NIA also mentioned a safe house in its remand note, suggesting that it contains information regarding 20 vehicles and explosives concealed within.
The agency suspects that this safe house may provide essential evidence related to a broader conspiracy.
In outlining the necessity for custodial interrogation, the NIA expressed its intent to take him back to Kashmir to expose the wider terrorist network and fully unravel the plot behind the attack.
Earlier today, the Patiala House Court placed Aamir in a 10-day custody with the NIA.
The NIA had requested this custody, a petition that the court approved.
On November 16, the NIA apprehended Aamir, as the vehicle used in the attack was registered under his name. He was caught in Delhi during a large-scale search operation initiated by the agency after taking over the case from the Delhi Police, as stated by an official.
The investigation by the NIA shows that Aamir conspired with the alleged suicide bomber, Umar Nabi, to carry out the attack. The agency asserts that Aamir traveled to Delhi to aid in acquiring the car later used as a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (IED) for the explosion.
Forensic analysis has confirmed the identity of the deceased driver of the vehicle-borne IED as Dr Umar Nabi, who is from Pulwama district and serves as an Assistant Professor in the General Medicine Department at Al Falah University in Faridabad.
The anti-terror agency has also confiscated another vehicle belonging to Dr Nabi, which is currently under examination for evidence. To date, the NIA has interviewed 73 witnesses, including those injured in the November 10 explosion that rocked the national capital.
Working collaboratively with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and various central agencies, the NIA is progressing with its investigation across multiple states. The agency is chasing various leads to reveal the larger conspiracy behind the bombing and identify all individuals involved in case RC-21/2025/NIA/DLI.
Previously, on November 15, the Delhi Police Crime Branch intensified its inquiry into Al Falah University as part of the ongoing investigation into the November 10 Delhi bomb blast, filing two FIRs against the institution.
