Gujarat's Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) concluded its fourth and final edition in Vadodara on 30 June, securing investment proposals worth more than ₹3.34 lakh crore through the signing of 3,759 memoranda of understanding (MoUs). The projects are expected to generate over 1.97 lakh employment opportunities in the coming years, according to state government figures.

The Central Gujarat leg of the conference was held in Vadodara in the presence of Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, bringing the curtain down on a series of four regional conferences organised under the theme 'Regional Aspiration, Global Ambition'. Additional Chief Secretary for Industries Mamta Verma presented a detailed report on the planning, implementation, and outcomes of the full conference series during the valedictory ceremony.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the investment commitments reflected growing industry confidence in Gujarat and would contribute to balanced regional development across the state. He described the VGRC as a platform that had translated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of inclusive development into action, linking local strengths and talent to global opportunities through the concepts of 'Vocal for Local' and 'Local to Global'.

'The Vibrant Gujarat Summit and VGRC have emerged as take-off platforms for the growth of industries and entrepreneurs in Gujarat,' Patel said. He reaffirmed the state government's commitment to keeping Gujarat at the forefront of India's journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047 through balanced regional development and industry collaboration.

Defence Minister Highlights Gujarat's Industrial Edge

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh noted that the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, first launched in 2003 by Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister, had evolved over two decades into a broader movement supporting the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Singh highlighted the state's manufacturing base, technological capabilities, ports, maritime infrastructure, and emerging sectors as key enablers for a larger national industrial role.

'The people of Gujarat possess a unique mindset and an exceptional ability to convert challenges into opportunities,' Singh said. He added that Gujarat's industrial ecosystem, entrepreneurial culture, and skilled workforce had been central to this transformation.

The valedictory session was attended by Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Minister of State Dr Manisha Vakil, industrialists, industry association representatives, delegates, and senior government officials. Artisans and entrepreneurs from multiple sectors were also honoured for their contributions at the event.

The VGRC series served as a regional precursor to the flagship Vibrant Gujarat Summit, designed to decentralise investment outreach beyond Gandhinagar and tap district-level industrial potential.
