Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Achieves 32% Growth in Sales, Hits 6 Crore Milestone

New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) reported that its total sales in 2024 reached 58,01,498 units, marking a significant 32% growth year-on-year compared to 2023.
This figure comprises 52,92,976 units sold domestically and 5,08,522 units exported during the last year.
In December, total sales were recorded at 3,08,083 units, which included 2,70,919 units in domestic sales and 37,164 units in exports, as per the company statement.
HMSI proudly announced that it has achieved a milestone of 6 crore domestic sales within India.
As part of its commitment to enhancing the ‘Make in India’ initiative, HMSI has launched a new third assembly line at its fourth two-wheeler plant located in Vithalapur, Gujarat.
Additionally, a new advanced engine assembly line has been established at the global resource factory in Manesar, Gurugram, aimed at boosting CKD (completely knocked down) exports.
HMSI has also unveiled the 'ACTIVA e:' and 'QC1' models in the electric vehicle (EV) sector.
The company stated, “Bookings for these innovative electric scooters commenced on January 1, 2025, with deliveries set to start from February 2025. Pricing details will be disclosed at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo later this month.”
The automaker introduced the ‘OBD2B’ compliant versions of Activa 125, SP125, SP160, and Unicorn, which come equipped with advanced features.
Since commencing retail operations in June 2001, Honda has been providing satisfaction to Indian customers for more than two decades.
Moreover, Honda’s 125cc motorcycles, including ‘Shine & SP125,’ have surpassed 30 lakh customers in eastern India.
The company also celebrated achieving a remarkable milestone of surpassing 10 million customers for Activa in southern India.
Fueled by increasing private consumption and rising disposable incomes, India experienced a 9% increase in vehicle retail sales in 2024 (year-on-year), exceeding 26 million units. This surpasses the previous pre-Covid peak of 25.4 million units recorded in a single year in 2018.
