New Delhi, March 20 (NationPress) India is on the verge of introducing its very own web browser, marking a significant advancement in establishing a homegrown internet ecosystem, stated Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister of Railways and Electronics and IT, on Thursday.
Vaishnaw made this announcement during the award ceremony for the winners of the Indian Web Browser Development Challenge (IWBDC).
The competition's top accolade was clinched by Zoho Corporation, a software enterprise founded by Sridhar Vembu.
The government initiated this challenge to promote the creation of an indigenous web browser.
Vaishnaw underscored the government’s ambition to transform India into a “product nation” instead of merely a service provider in the technological domain.
“Previously, product development was largely confined to government bodies, but now, a more inclusive approach is being embraced,” he remarked.
He stressed the urgency of accelerating the transition from innovation to extensive production, ensuring that homegrown solutions gain widespread acceptance.
The minister also urged startups and industries to concentrate on creating secure and scalable technologies to foster India’s self-reliance in the digital arena.
“Talent from all domains must collaborate to propel advancement across sectors,” stated Vaishnaw.
