New Delhi, Nov 21 (NationPress) India is aiming to establish a profound partnership with Israel to enhance the startup ecosystem focused on deeptech and premium innovations, stated Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday.
During his visit to the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation in Israel, Goyal expressed that India has aspirations to become the global startup capital in the coming years.
“A key aspect will be technology and innovation in our comprehensive partnership with Israel. Today, I had the honor of visiting the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, to learn how such a small nation has achieved monumental innovations. I am particularly impressed by how they have transformed challenges into opportunities,” the minister shared with the press.
He praised Israel for its ability to integrate their defense needs, agricultural advancements, and modern technology addressing health and climate change issues.
“I am confident that we can collaborate with Israel to elevate our startup ecosystem, aspiring to reach the heights of deeptech and high-quality innovation at competitive prices, leveraging the economies of scale that India possesses,” he noted.
Goyal highlighted that India is looking for a profound collaboration with Israel, which boasts one startup for every 1,000 residents.
At the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation, Goyal remarked: “An inspiring hub that showcases Israel's journey in creativity, technology, and social impact. The exhibition provided valuable insights into how innovation can fuel growth and development.”
Earlier, Goyal mentioned that with India and Israel initiating the process for free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations, this trade pact will serve as a foundation for mutual prosperity. After signing the Terms of Reference (ToR) with Israel's Minister of Economy and Industry, Nir Barkat, in Tel Aviv to guide the negotiations for an FTA between India and Israel, Goyal indicated that this is the first vital step towards facilitating discussions aimed at “concluding a balanced, comprehensive, and mutually beneficial FTA to reinforce and enhance our trade, economic, and strategic partnership.”
