This affirmation came during high-level discussions held by Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in Doha during his two-day official visit, as reported by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Friday.
Puri, who arrived in Doha on April 9, engaged in discussions with Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi. Together, they assessed the comprehensive scope of their bilateral relations.
The dialogue encompassed high-level engagements, opportunities for trade and investment, energy cooperation, along with cultural and people-to-people ties, underscoring the growing strength of the India-Qatar partnership.
“Both Ministers deliberated on all facets of the strategic relations between the two nations, including high-level interactions, trade, investment, energy, culture, and interpersonal relations,” the ministry stated.
Furthermore, they expressed a shared hope for the prompt return of peace and stability in the region, aiming to further enhance the bilateral relationship between India and Qatar.
During their meeting, Puri conveyed his greetings and a message of solidarity from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Qatar’s Amir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
He also recalled their recent telephonic discussions in March 2026 in light of escalating regional tensions, where both leaders emphasized the necessity of peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy.
PM Modi had expressed gratitude for Qatar’s ongoing support for the Indian community residing there.
The two ministers expressed optimism for a swift restoration of peace in the region and committed to further enhancing bilateral cooperation.

The leaders welcomed the two-week ceasefire declared on April 8, emphasizing the critical need to secure uninterrupted global energy supplies.
They highlighted the necessity for freedom of navigation and the seamless flow of global commerce to maintain stable supply chains.
