Surat, Aug 6 (NationPress) In a call to action, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged the nation to embrace the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative. On Wednesday, two thousand entrepreneurs from various sectors in Gujarat’s Surat convened under the 'Progressive Alliance', with the goal of positioning India as the world’s third-largest economy.
This gathering takes place against the backdrop of US President Trump's looming tariff threats. Nonetheless, PM Modi reminded citizens of their responsibilities, urging everyone to commit to Swadeshi. He characterized Swadeshi as products created through the hard work and dedication of Indians, motivating the country to adopt the “Vocal for Local” mantra.
During the event, business leaders from cities across Gujarat, including Surat, engaged in discussions regarding the potential impact of US tariffs on MSMEs and export-oriented industries, exploring strategies to mitigate these challenges.
The primary aim of this event was to bolster the local economy by prioritizing Indian-made goods under ‘Swadeshi’ empowerment, while also fostering robust networking among business leaders.
Kamal Diora, who facilitated the event, shared with IANS that PM Modi's ‘Swadeshi’ initiative would provide renewed vigor amidst the US tariffs. He stated, “We are backing the Prime Minister's 'Vocal for Local' initiative as we strive to make our nation the third-largest economy globally.”
Participants at the event appeared resolute in their commitment to advance PM Modi's initiative.
Ashish Sukhadia, a diamond merchant from Surat, expressed, “As an Indian, I wholeheartedly endorse 'Vocal for Local'. We are already ranked as the fourth-largest GDP globally. By supporting this initiative, we can surmount all obstacles. We are also concentrating on mutual support.”
Meanwhile, Amit Koladiya, a textile trader from Surat, noted,
The 'Vocal for Local' movement, which has gained momentum in India recently, urges citizens and businesses to prioritize locally manufactured goods over imports, thereby promoting domestic manufacturing, creating jobs, and invigorating the local economy.
